Cemetery

The Cuttyhunk Cemetery is a quiet place of beauty and refection. It also provides a glimpse into the long history of military duty served by islanders. Click here to download a copy of Those Who Served, which provides a key for grave locations.

Originally the Slocum family burying ground, the cemetery’s oldest grave stone belongs to Hannah Slocum, who died in 1822. In 1889, the land the cemetery is on was given by the Cuttyhunk Club to the town for upkeep.
